Balance in life is a tricky thing…to find that equilibrium in your life to truly keep everything steady. I think I am constantly looking for that…that equilibrium. We all have to balance the different things in life…I get it. As I am getting older, and especially these last 7+ months, I have found finding that balance to be an important part of my life.
Anyway, I had probably my best game of the season the other night against Miami (01/30/15). We needed it. On the road, against a playoff bound team, no Chandler Parsons and we were struggling offensively. We only had 13 points at the end of one (quarter) and 60 at the end of three (quarters). That, to us, is not a good night offensively. We are an offensive machine...
So coach gave me a chance to play some extra minutes…and I was ready. Hopefully, I showcased that I am working on other aspects of my game like defense and rebounding. More than that, I hope I showed that I still have a lot to contribute to this team. And what is most important is just simply getting that win on the road, team effort.
But it is the NBA. The very next night we had another game against Orlando and we lost Rondo early to an injury (hopefully we get him back sooner than later) and again played without Chandler Parsons (due to illness). We all had to step up and as usual Monta was great! I didn't play as well as I did in Miami…gotta make my free-throws (no bueno).
Charlie Villanueva one of five rebounds at Orlando Magic (1/31/15)
So this brings me back to what I am saying…gotta stay focused and balanced. This is an ongoing long season thing…we have to collectively find our balance. This team can be really special come playoff time.
Long season people…
Always believe in yourself and each other,
Charlie Villanueva #believeincharlie
PS—I recently played a shortened version of one-on-one with Mr. Mark Cuban. Check out a picture from that "game". It wasn't an official game, but lets just say that the Big Boss Man knows he needs to get a hand up. Hand down, man down ;)
